Snohomish County Indivisible
Advocacy Teams
A little about the teams:
Snohomish County Indivisible identifies key issues that require focused attention and gathers volunteers to form advocacy teams, along with a designated leader. These teams research the issue’s history, major turning points at both the national and state levels, and track current developments, including legislation and news at the local, state, or federal level. They then bring forward recommendations to the broader group for potential action.
In addition, they provide visibility to the general public of the need for attention to a particular issue. This is done through hosting or tabling at events, and working in partnership with other relevant groups.
Teams hold their own meetings and send out more frequent communications for team members.
Current teams:
LGBTQ+
Climate/Environment
Contact us at snocoindivisible@gmail.com if interested in joining.
Leading a team:
There is a degree of autonomy involved in leading a team, including managing members joining, communications within the team, holding meetings, and deciding where to direct efforts. However, all forms of communication outside of the team and planned actions must be approved by leadership. Team leads are required to attend the first admin team meeting of the month to provide a report, or make other arrangements to report.
Due to capacity, we have not discussed issues we would like to create new teams for and are leaving it open to interest from anyone willing to lead. If interested in starting a team, please contact us at snocoindivisible@gmail.com with information about your idea.
Please note, we will not approve a team for immigration. Lives are on the line and we must defer to the experience and expertise of groups such as WAISN or La Resistencia. We are open to ongoing projects in support of immigrants, and currently have one running, but not as a dedicated advocacy team.
